Hiking the Chilkoot Trail with Junko and Brooke

Junko returns to Yukon to hike the Chilkoot Trail!

Here she crosses into Alaska again.

We meet up with Brooke from Juneau Alaska.

Here we are at the trailhead for the Chilkoot,

making a late evening start.

We start in West Coast Rain Forest.

Grizzly Bears on the river.

A cart trail through the woods.

Up ahead, there's two bears around the corner.

She already has the shirt.

We spent the night in the Canyon City cabin.

Second day, passing through Sheep Camp

and climbing up the rocky trail to the pass.

Starting up the pass.

Cold, mist, rain and snow!

But we made it to the top!

Now late in the day,

cold and wet,

we spend the night in the unheated emergency cabin.

On the third day, now in Canada again,

we start our way back towards the trees.

Finally some trees at Deep Lake

Yum! Lots of wild blueberrys!

Sorry Mr Bear.

Lost again!

Third and last night on the trail,

a cabin on Lindeman Lake.

Just over three days on the trail,

53 kms (33 miles) of trail,

we make the long hike out on the White Pass Rail Road tracks.

Another 14 kms (9 miles) to the highway.
