Hello Everyone,

It started off as just another weekend coming up, with just the arrival of my latest helper Jessica from Australia as the big event, but it turned into a very hectic blur of events and highways.

I was offered the opportunity to deliver maintenance camp supplies to two sites on the Dempster Highway Saturday, Canada's most northern highway. The furthest site being 200 kms short of the Arctic Circle! Since I never miss a chance to rack up more highway miles, I accepted.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get the delivery moved up to Sunday after Jessica arrival to offer her a chance at a great road trip to start things off, but leaving Saturday morning on this 1450 km round trip meant possibly arriving late to pickup Jessica when she arrived.

My employer assisted in getting Jessica's Greyhound trip extended to Whitehorse and I moved as fast as possible. I finally picked her up at 4:15 am, about an hour after the bus arrived in Whitehorse, so it was a long day for both of us arriving home after 6 am.

My faithful truck, Arabelle, arrives without incident at the last camp.

Jessica got the local tour Sunday of Carcross, Carcross Desert, Bove Island and a part of the White Pass.

Viewing Carcross from a distance on the White Pass railroad tracks and Bennet Lake in the foreground is breaking up.

It is that time of year when all the swans return to Tagish Lake, Swan Haven (Marsh Lake area), Carcross and Teslin. Last count in Tagish shows 386 noisy birds!
