Aurore and I visited Skagway Alaska and then

decided to hike the rugged Chilkoot Trail!

We traveled to Alaska along the White Pass

Crossing the Border

Lower Reid Falls

Named after the Skagway hero during the Klondike Goldrush

Mock gambling at

The Days of ’98 show.

Back in Yukon!

But we ventured South again to Skagway,

this time to hike back into Canada along the Chilkoot Trail.

We started the trail in the evening and hiked well into the dark.

Getting darker.

Some artefacts attesting to the passage of a great rush

to the Klondike gold finds.

Arriving in camp at 1 am, we set up the tent by the light of an iPhone.

A little lighter in the morning! :)

An old cabin used as a cooking shack and emergency shelter.

The second night the campground has tent platforms.

Tomorrow, over the pass!

In July there is still lots of snow in the pass

After freezing cold winds and temperatures,

finally at the top!

Coming down the other side in snowy Canada

Finally some trees again

Always the possibility of bears!
