Hello everyone,

During the past week, Tanja and Morgane borrowed the car and took a roadtrip of their own to terrorize the small town of Haines Junction and up towards Destruction Bay.  They enjoyed great views of the mountains in Kluane National Park and Kluane Lake.

On another day they watched two Yukon Quest Dog Sled racers crossed the finish line in Whitehorse. Always on the go!!

This past weekend, another chance to hit the road on a long roadtrip. Not as far as Dawson City, but still 600 kms away!

We started by jumping out of bed before dawn on Saturday morning!!!!

Would you believe 9 am??

Okay, we were awake by 10 am!

After loading up the car we hit the highway by 2 pm, but it was no problem as the plan was to arrive at the hot springs in the dark of the night.

We stopped at Teslin for a little sightseeing.

Tanja viewing the Teslin bridge and down upon the small town of Teslin.
Notice the coffee to keep her awake!

We drove on through Watson Lake and into British Columbia arriving by dark.We prepared a quick supper of spicy chili on the hood of the car and continued into the dark Buffalo country! We saw many buffalo in the dark, but luckily none of them attempted to cross the highway as we flew thru.

We arrive after 10 pm and quickly set up the tent before hiking into the wild. Through the dark woods and along the boardwalk through muskeg. Finally the hot springs!!

It may have been -29ºC (-20ºF) outside but it was very hot water. In some places the water reaches 50ºC (122ºF)!!

Despite the cold temperatures, we arrived back to the tent around 2 am and had an excellent sleep thanks to the warm tent we had prepared.

The next morning we awoke around 10 am again and prepared for the hot springs again.

The tent steams in the morning sun shine

Luxury tenting.

The wonderful waterfalls.

Back on the road again, we stopped to see the buffalo in the daylight.

And by dusk, the caribou.

Unfortunately this was the end of Tanja's stay as we dropped her off in Watson Lake to catch the next day's Greyhound southbound. We will miss her great humour and smile as we keep roadtripping through Alaska and Yukon  :(

Yukon and Alaska will miss her too, but she says she will be back!  :)
